Dean started training in Muay Thai aged 5 with his older brother Daniel after moving to Birmingham so they could defend themselves. They soon moved back to Wakefield and he carried on his Muay Thai training. He has a Muay Thai record of 86-3-1 and was one of this biggest Muay Thai Stars to come from England. He amassed an amateur mma record of 5-0 before signing with the LFC
